Job Description:

53 introduces an elevated blend of Asian cuisine with a contemporary edge in a chic lifestyle setting. Featuring an exquisite marriage of Asian flavors and unique dishes, 53 is a New York restaurant conceived by the Founder Ahmass Fakahany and team behind NYC dining destinations including Marea and Ai Fiori. The menu is spearheaded by acclaimed Singapore-born Chef Akmal Anuar. We are looking for passionate & dedicated Sommeliers to join the team. Job Responsibility:

  • Actively engage in service and lead with a hands-on approach
  • Take the lead in growing wine/beverage sales in the restaurant and develop strong guest relationships
  • Help maintain the wine cellar, the beverage storeroom, and assist in monthly inventories

Requirements:

  • 4 years of restaurant industry experience preferred, with 2 years of experience working with beverage
  • Solid foundation in French & domestic wine and & spirits as well enthusiasm working with an international wine list
  • Candidates should be highly organized, efficient, and be able to work precisely
  • Ability to multitask and plan ahead
  • Ability to teach and encourage the restaurant staff to develop their wine knowledge
  • Candidates should demonstrate creativity and a commitment to the brand success
  • Physical requirements include: ability to handle and carry trays, smallware, equipment, or other items up to 35lbs, and to stand, walk up and down stairs, and exert well-paced mobility for extended period of time
  • Must have flexible schedule and open availability to meet business needs
