Job Description

The “Complex Property” team is part of the wider “Property” service line, which in turn sits within the firm’s “Claims Solutions Group”. The team acts for a large number of insurer clients, undertaking some of their highest value, highest profile and most challenging work. The work falls into three broad categories: (i) subrogated recovery claims (typically over £250,000); (ii) defendant public liability property damage claims; and (iii) policy coverage both advisory work and disputes. In short, the team deals with disputes and problems arising out of fires, floods, storms, escapes of water, escapes of oil, explosions, impact damage (basically any way in which a property might become damaged).

Job Responsibility

  • Work diligently and proactively, handling a varied workload in accordance with insurer client requirements
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with insurer clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrate good financial management and housekeeping on own files
  • Support marketing and business development activities within the team (e.g. training/articles)
  • Maintain an awareness of the firm’s core strategies and aims

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE
  • Relevant experience of property insurance work
  • Technically excellent with an aptitude for analysing difficult legal cases
  • Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on a day to day basis
  • Commercially and financially astute
  • Team-orientated, and willing to share knowledge and support other members of the team
  • Demonstrates alignment with the firm’s cultural principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive)
