Job details: Sole Counsel in Beijing. Permanent position. Job Responsibility

  • Build and maintain the company’s legal infrastructure, including contract templates, compliance policies, and corporate governance protocols
  • Independently draft, review, and lead negotiations for complex commercial contracts, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships
  • Manage corporate secretarial matters and provide end-to-end legal support for financing rounds, M&A activities, and ESOP administration
  • Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape (e.g., Data Privacy, Labor Law, Industry-specific regs) and ensure proactive business alignment
  • Select and supervise outside counsel for specialized matters (litigation, tax, overseas expansion) to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, providing risk-adjusted legal advice that enables—rather than hinders—business growth

Requirements

  • LL.B. or LL.M. from a top-tier law school
  • Admission to the PRC Bar
  • Initial training (2–4 years) at a leading Red Circle law firm
  • A minimum of 3 years of in-house experience within a fast-paced corporate environment or a multinational corporation (MNC)
  • 5–8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE)
  • Near-native fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
  • A 'can-do' attitude with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders
  • Must be comfortable working as a 'unit of one' while maintaining high standards
