The Solar Site Lead Technician will be responsible for the on-site operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of solar field equipment at EDPR NA's operating solar-energy generation site. This role involves supervising a team, performing safety procedures, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations.
Job Responsibility:
On-site operations, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of solar field equipment
Perform Lock out Tag out (LOTO) and Tail Board meetings
Perform job-specific documentation for solar maintenance
Perform inspections of equipment, tools, and facility for compliance
Supervise team of 1 to 4 technicians for preventative and corrective maintenance
Look for improvement opportunities and communicate through appropriate channels
Read schematics to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems
Perform mechanical and electrical component repair and replacement
Gather information regarding solar performance/issues
Diagnose, recommend, and implement solutions
Comply with environmental health and safety programs
Act as safety role model
Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks
Perform preventive maintenance according to OEM manuals
Perform data collection and prepare reports
Work with Remote Operations Control Center
Perform QA/QC inspections
Maintain electronic communication between solar field, substation, site office, and home office
Facilitate periodic equipment inspections and reporting
Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
Adhere to effective internal controls
Supervise contractors onsite
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required
1+ years of college or technical school education, or equivalent combination of training and experience
2-5 years relevant experience in solar energy or related industry
Experience with power plant operations and maintenance, solar plant operations, high voltage switching, and post-operational repair and maintenance of solar field components preferred
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of valid driver's license
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
Ability to work around low- and medium-voltage equipment
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables
Ability to work overtime on holidays and weekends and work on short notice
Ability to respond to site emergencies 24/7
Physical ability to perform tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
Weight between 125 lbs. and 275 lbs. to comply with ANSI Fall Protection Standards
Ability to interpret and follow instructions
Tolerance to extreme weather conditions
Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions
