The Soil and Crop Modeling (SCM) Engineer will be responsible for building and executing simulations to optimize product design for the efficient flow and processing of cereal grains and straw in equipment including combines and headers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Building and executing simulations to optimize product design for the efficient flow and processing of cereal grains and straw in equipment including combines and headers
  • Expanding the library of virtual crops through experimental measurement of mechanical crop properties
  • Developing methodologies and standard procedures for system and sub-system simulations
  • Working with the product validation teams in devising testing procedures for evaluating simulation correlation to physical behavior
  • Working with design teams to communicate the findings of the simulations and providing recommendations to improve product performance
  • Collaborating with other SCM team members in other locations and across product lines
  • Attending industry conferences pertaining to Soil & Crop Modeling technology
  • Reviewing and understanding technologies and trends in crop modeling software and hardware
  • Developing partnerships with university for technology scouting and supervising engineering teams

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Bioscience Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 7 years of experience as an agricultural engineer or related occupation
  • 7 years of experience utilizing Discrete-Element Method (DEM) techniques to develop simulations involving complex virtual crops
  • 7 years of experience applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and conducting coupled simulations
  • 7 years of experience with specialized software, including STARCCM+, FLUENT, OPENFOAM, EDEM, and ROCKY
  • 7 years of experience with CAD software, including CREO and SPACE CLAIM
  • 7 years of experience developing custom API code for commercial simulation software
  • 7 years of experience conducting instrumentation and testing with research apparatus to measure crop properties and system performance
  • 7 years of experience working with mechanical systems, specifically on combine and header equipment
