As the Software Team Lead, you will lead a team of software engineers to build the infrastructure and software solutions that turn raw DNA-sequencing data into profound biological insights. You will take command of the organization's software vision, strategy and roadmap, ensuring that our solutions and AI strategy are highly scalable and remain relevant within the rapidly evolving landscape of spatial omics.
Job Responsibility:
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a small, elite team of engineers. You will be responsible for hiring, code quality, and fostering an environment of high ownership within our organization
Software Strategy: Take ownership of the software strategy, vision, and roadmap within our growing company
Architectural Vision: Oversee the evolution of our open-source and proprietary software stacks, ensuring they scale with our growing customer base
Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner with R&D and Computational Biology teams to translate scientific requirements into high-performance software
AI Leadership: Own the AI/ML initiative and strategy, partnering closely with the Computational Biology team to integrate machine learning solutions that automate data interpretation and enable the discovery of high-value biological insights
Requirements:
8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years managing and mentoring software engineering teams
Proven track record leading small, high-impact software teams, fostering a culture of high ownership and technical excellence
Expertise in designing, architecting, and operating highly scalable, secure, and data-intensive cloud platforms
Strong command of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD and DevOps principles
Ability to balance strategic high-level roadmapping with deep-diving into code and architecture with the team
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, particularly in translating scientific requirements into robust software solutions
Nice to have:
Familiarity with NGS (Next-Generation Sequencing) data, spatial omics, or proteomics domain context
Experience in a startup or biotech environment
Proficiency in the core technical stack (e.g., Python backends and modern frontend development) sufficient to support and guide hands-on engineers
Previous experience working with AI/ML systems and/or applications
