Job Description

Carex is partnering with a FinTech industry partner to hire a Software Product Engineer, AI Platforms. This hybrid opportunity in Madison, WI is ideal for a highly capable builder who wants ownership over meaningful product areas and enjoys shaping product experiences from idea through execution. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-moving, high-autonomy environment focused on building AI-powered software that streamlines workflows, automation, collaboration, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Own and drive development for key product areas within the platform
  • Build full-stack features using TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and tRPC
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams in rapid iteration cycles
  • Help evolve and scale platform architecture as products and systems grow
  • Partner directly with users to understand workflows and improve customer experiences
  • Contribute to AI-powered workflow automation and intelligent tooling initiatives
  • Help elevate engineering standards through strong ownership, communication, and execution
  • Operate with high autonomy while maintaining transparency and accountability
  • Support future growth initiatives and potentially expand into people leadership responsibilities

Requirements

  • Strong experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript
  • Full-stack development experience with modern APIs and backend services
  • A builder mindset with a passion for creating, experimenting, and solving problems
  • Demonstrated ownership and initiative through professional projects, startups, side projects, GitHub activity, or other hands-on work
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation startup environment
  • Strong communication skills and product-oriented thinking
  • Adaptability, curiosity, and enthusiasm for learning quickly

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI tools, LLMs, or workflow automation is a plus
  • Experience with Go (Golang) or backend migrations is a plus
  • Background in fintech, accounting technology, document systems, or operational workflows is preferred
  • Prior startup or high-growth company experience is beneficial

  • Build customer-facing features that represent the core of our product, including document and image/multi-modal processing, collaborative review tools, organization, translation tools, search, review, and more
  • Use AI technologies to find the evidence rapidly such as document classification, predictive coding, transfer learning and LLMs
  • Collaborate with one or more of the Product, Design, Engineering Operations, Security Engineering, and DevOps teams to build out and implement new features that are used in our production environments
  • Help with scaling our system to larger datasets with hundreds of millions of documents
  • Provide Technical Mentorship to other engineers by both sharing your technical knowledge and becoming an expert in an area of our code base
  • Be a Code Reviewer by reviewing code developed by others using your knowledge of programming languages, design patterns, and best practices
  • Fix defects in our product by triaging product or system issues and writing code to debug, track and resolve these issues
  • Provide on-call support for the product by answering questions from customers, triaging defects and exceptions, and carrying the pager
  • Contribute to documentation for internal engineering consumption or for external the Everlaw platform
  • Do technical interviews to help us recruit engineers and grow the team
