The role will require travel throughout the UK to our client sites. We are looking for an experienced Software Implementation Project Manager to work with our Government, Health, and Housing Customers. The projects we work on involve systems implementation and consultancy covering Housing, Health, Public Protection, Revenues and Benefits, Electronic Document Management and Software as a Service. Projects can be very large and require the services of a dedicated project manager but also range down to much smaller engagements which would also be allocated to a project manager, in each case acting in a supplier-delivery role.
Job Responsibility:
Successfully manage multiple software implementation projects across a diverse customer base
Support pre-sales activities by contributing to ITT responses, presenting NEC Software Solutions’ implementation methodology, producing relevant documentation, and advising on commercial viability based on prior experience
Post-contract, lead the delivery of projects—whether as standalone engagements, part of a wider programme, or smaller phased deliverables—by coordinating implementation consultants and product specialists
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to initiate and plan projects in line with PRINCE2 principles, establishing appropriate governance and project structures
Act as the primary client contact throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring effective communication, expectation management, and successful project outcomes
Monitor and control project progress, budget, and billing activities, including milestone tracking, accurate forecasting, and revenue assurance
Produce and maintain key project documentation including plans, logs, reports & presentations, and governance records
Lead and participate in client-facing meetings such as project kick-offs, checkpoints, and steering boards, providing clear updates and direction
Report regularly to internal stakeholders and senior leadership on progress, performance, risks, and opportunities
Oversee work package management, task allocation, and third-party supplier coordination to ensure delivery quality and timelines are met
Analyse key delivery metrics and implement continuous improvement measures where needed
Requirements:
Proven experience in managing complex software projects
Experience as a Project Manager within Public Sector managing software Projects
Prince 2 Qualified or experience working to this methodology
High levels of accountability with the ability to lead and motivate internal project teams, clients and third parties
Ability to work in a commercially astute way, making considered decisions based on an understanding of the facts and commercial perspective
Experience managing software implementation projects from either a client or supplier perspective into the UK Public Services
Able and willing to travel throughout the UK and overseas
Proficient user in MS Project
Outstanding written and verbal presentation skills
Experience managing budgets, revenue, and project margins
Detail oriented
Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
Managing multiple project teams at the same time
Demonstrated ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Local Government, Housing or Health Experience from a Supplier Perspective
Eligible for UK Security Clearance
Nice to have:
Prince 2 Qualified
Understand Waterfall and Agile principles
Experience with NEC (nee Northgate) Products or similar Housing software
Familiarity with software tools for project tracking such as Jira, MS Project, DevOps, or similar
