Software Engineering Manager

• Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming
• Be both a highly technical, hands-on coder and an effective people manager
• Lead teams that deliver on multiple projects of increasing dependencies in an ambiguous or high-impact area
• Work with team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy
• Work on issues of diverse scope, and drive roadmap creation and execution
• Collaborate with various functions, drive engineering initiatives and have an impact at an organizational level
• Participate in technical design
• Measure the impact of team and set clear expectations and goals
• Manage, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of the team with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing
• Work effectively with cross functional partners and stakeholders to set and achieve optimal outcomes
• Partner with leadership to influence and drive org design, contribution and prioritization
• Manages 13 Software Engineers

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or a related field and 5 years of post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation
• 5 years of experience in Software engineering work experience including hands-on technical management building infrastructure core components
• 5 years of experience in Coding in one of the following languages: C++, Java, Javascript, Python, or PHP
• 5 years of experience in Recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management
• 5 years of experience in Architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services
• 5 years of experience in Management experience with technical teams, or experience as a technical lead or project manager
• 5 years of experience in Building products including front end technologies or backend systems
• 5 years of experience in Unix or Linux
• 5 years of experience in Large-scale Internet service architectures (load balancing, LAMP, or CDN's)
• 5 years of experience in Designing and developing distributed systems, storage systems, or cache and data distribution infrastructure
• 5 years of experience in Scaling high performance, high throughput systems
• 5 years of experience in Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in large-scale systems
• 5 years of experience in Coordinating large-scale, cross-functional efforts that span different teams
• 5 years of experience in Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions
• 5 years of experience in Leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth

Be a subject matter expert in at least one specific domain (examples: product, product infrastructure, infrastructure, machine learning)
