Job Description:

This position involves building backend systems for 'Citi Assist', a Generative AI assistant for Citi employees globally. The role includes leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, building production-grade Python services, and contributing to engineering craftsmanship, security by design, and technical architecture.

Job Responsibility:

Lead, code, and deliver by acting as the technical anchor for backend services
take ownership of core platform capabilities and focus on reliability, performance, and operational excellence
champion a culture of security by design
mentor and unblock team members to increase collective pace
lead by example in engineering craftsmanship and CI/CD practices
shape technical direction and define architecture and roadmap
foster a culture of clear, proactive communication.

Requirements:

Minimum 12+ years of engineering experience
a pragmatic builder who takes pride in their craft and builds software that lasts
a bias for action and a focus on shipping
a solutions-first mindset
proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers
deep, hands-on experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade Python services
a security-conscious mindset
a firm grasp of software design patterns and a belief in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code
comfort with deploying and managing applications in containerised environments
practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and a belief in automating everything
solid experience working with relational databases like Postgres.

Nice to have:

Experience with other languages like TypeScript, Go, or Java
direct experience with Generative AI concepts, LLMs, or related personal/professional projects
experience with data pipelines and ETL tools such as Apache Airflow and Dagster.
