This role is critical in designing, building, and scaling the core execution engine that powers T-Mobile’s IntentCX agentic AI experiences across mobile apps, web platforms, and customer support channels—including both text and voice interactions. You will architect and implement software systems that enable AI-driven decisioning, orchestration, and dynamic customer engagement at massive scale.
Job Responsibility:
Working closely with AI/ML engineers, platform engineers, and product teams, you will create reliable, high-performance components that allow our agentic AI to plan, act, and respond intelligently in real time across conversational modalities. This includes developing microservices, workflow engines, and integration layers that connect large language model (LLM) reasoning with network, billing, account, and support systems.
You will build and iterate on the software components that power T-Mobile's IntentCX program. You will build across modalities (chat and voice) using OpenAI's chat and realtime voice models. You will focus on either customer service, helping to answer questions and integrate customer data, OR on how T-Mobile sells its products. You will have a direct impact to hundreds of thousands of customer interactions every day!
Requirements:
Coding experience (Python is usually key for AI work)
Understanding of how APIs work
Problem-solving mindset: you need to figure out what customers actually need, not just build cool tech
Communication skills to explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams
Comfortable with ambiguity: AI projects rarely have clear-cut answers
Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or chatbot frameworks
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma or GED
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a degree program and have at least one semester remaining following the internship
Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for internships
