We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team within the broader Platform function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role plays a critical part in shaping the technology landscape that supports our client experience, operational excellence, and long‑term strategic growth. You will work closely with software engineers, application support specialists, project managers, product owners, business analysts, and other technical professionals across the Chief Operating Officer’s group.
Job Responsibility:
Design and build best-practice solutions and processes based on complex business requirements
Customise the Avaloq Core Platform functionalities, with a focus on AvaloqScript (ACP parameterisation)
Share responsibility for the Avaloq codebase, refining and enforcing development best practices
Support solution designs and review of new features
Champion unit testing and build automated testing capabilities
Provide operational guidance to application support specialists, including incident management triage, release/change management, and system monitoring
Identify risks associated with changes made to the platform
Actively participate in agile ceremonies
Play back technical concepts in demos to business stakeholders
Develop deep technical knowledge across multiple functional business areas within the Avaloq Core Platform
Support and lead efforts to influence consistent solution design, development, change management, and agile principles
Enforce and support technical audits
Support the Quality Assurance team with the capability to define, implement, and maintain an automated testing suite for the Avaloq Core Platform
Requirements:
Extensive experience in Avaloq development across multiple domains, including support of the Avaloq environment and codebase
Experience working in the financial services industry, with a strong understanding of wealth management products and services (e.g., portfolio management, trading, settlement, payments, reconciliations, corporate actions)
Understanding of technologies like PL-SQL, Oracle SQL
Certification as an Avaloq Certified Professional (ACP)
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field
Nice to have:
Knowledge of Avaloq RMWP Parameterisation, HTML, CSS, Angular, TypeScript, Java, J2EE, JDBC, SOAP, JavaScript, and Ergon or similar Web Application Firewall, Elasticsearch/Kibana, OpenShift/Kubernetes or monitoring/alerting tools such as Prometheus/Grafana
