Job Description

Microsoft has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer in the Cloud+AI Silver Team. This team member will be responsible for developing, deploying, and operating cloud-scale Hybrid Networking services within an airgapped environment. The goal of the Azure Silver Hybrid Networking team is to empower airgapped customers to achieve more by providing best-in-class hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN, and vWAN), application delivery (Application Gateway) and security services (Bastion and Firewall).

Job Responsibility

Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working oncall to monitor customer-facing services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions
Defines and develops standardized, repeatable, scalable software solutions to guarantee quality
Contributes to the development of automation within production and deployment of complex product features
Maintains communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers
Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software development tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products
Takes ownership of Hybrid Networking services in the Airgapped Cloud

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements
This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions

Nice to have

2+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, Java, or C++
Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities
Experience interfacing with customers or supporting customer-facing services
Ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities
Ownership of end-to-end project lifecycle with solid project management and communication skills
Familiarity with Azure or other cloud service providers
