Job Description:

Microsoft has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer in the Cloud+AI Silver Team. This team member will be responsible for developing, deploying, and operating cloud-scale Hybrid Networking services within an airgapped environment. The goal of the Azure Silver Hybrid Networking team is to empower airgapped customers to achieve more by providing best-in-class hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, VPN, and vWAN), application delivery (Application Gateway) and security services (Bastion and Firewall).

Job Responsibility:

  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working oncall to monitor customer-facing services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions
  • Defines and develops standardized, repeatable, scalable software solutions to guarantee quality
  • Contributes to the development of automation within production and deployment of complex product features
  • Maintains communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers
  • Builds, enhances, reuses, contributes to, and identifies new software development tools to support other programs and applications to create, debug, and maintain code for products
  • Takes ownership of Hybrid Networking services in the Airgapped Cloud

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
  • Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
  • This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements
  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
  • This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions

Nice to have:

  • 2+ years of experience with PowerShell, C#, Java, or C++
  • Experience working on large-scale distributed services with on-call responsibilities
  • Experience interfacing with customers or supporting customer-facing services
  • Ability to build and influence broadly towards common goals and priorities
  • Ownership of end-to-end project lifecycle with solid project management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Azure or other cloud service providers
