QTEC Aerospace is seeking a SOFTWARE ENGINEER to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. The qualified applicant will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic. QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will the support the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as an individual contributor on the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product.
Job Responsibility:
Understanding, implementing, and testing both existing and new capabilities and algorithms, which include complex mathematics and physics-based solutions, that directly support GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
Participate as part of a team writing the software (currently ~1.5 million lines of code) that evaluates and manages the threat scene for the missile defense system that protects the US
Requirements:
Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels
Recent experience developing software in C++, Java or Ada
Willingness to become proficient with Ada software development
Applicants must demonstrate ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions
Capable of working both independently and within a team environment
Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed.

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and at least 5 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or 1 year of related work experience with a PhD.

Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
Recent MATLAB and Python experience
Experience on a large-scale missile defense system like GMD.
Advanced degree or strong background in Mathematics or Physics
Battle Management or Fire Control experience.
Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
