Job Description:

Year-Round Software Internship at Astrion's Systems Engineering Group (SEG) in Columbia, Maryland. SEG is a provider of air and missile defense threat engineering and combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis for customers like the U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency.

Job Responsibility:

  • Aid in the development of simulations and models to characterize threat ballistic and cruise missile performance
  • Supporting ongoing simulation development in the following areas: Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) flight simulations
  • Radio Frequency (RF) and infrared (IR) modeling
  • Seeker models and simulations
  • Phenomenological models for missile debris, clutter, and RF signature waking

Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance
  • US citizenship is required for eligibility as per the cognizant security agency and requirements of the programs supported in this role
  • All candidates must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and write code in Python, and C++
  • Experience with documentation and presentations using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams or groups
  • Ability to work independently with guidance as needed
