As a Tech Lead engineer in the Wearables System Health Team at Reality Labs, you will lead strategy and drive broad execution on optimization and defense on performance and power efficiency areas across our products. You will strongly influence and collaborate with a wide-range of teams, threading together newly developed technologies to deliver most performant, energy efficient and reliable products that enhance people’s experiences with our resource-constrained wearable device portfolio.
Job Responsibility:
Lead end-to-end performance and power efficiency strategy, spanning metric definition, instrumentation, tooling, automation, signal analysis and cutting-edge optimizations
Lead effort in optimizing and defending power efficiency, performance and stability on resource-constrained systems based on targets and roadmaps
Lead and partner with broader engineering teams to profile systems and analyze issues across the stack
Identify and resolve highly complex/impactful quality issues, scaling solutions to help organization (e.g., building shared tools, frameworks for device automation)
Establish and evangelize best practices and processes, while designing and enforcing budgets for critical system resources within broad product and engineering functions
Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail while advocating for higher product quality and engineering efficiency
Drive the team's technical roadmap aligned with long-term product and organizational goals
Mentor and influence engineers across the team and organization to foster strong technical skills and collaboration
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
8+ years experience in developing embedded engineering solutions in a resource constrained environment with focus on performance and power efficiency areas
Experience with profiling, benchmarking and analyzing system compute, memory, latency and I/O performance
Demonstrated experience working across complex software stacks to drive initiatives, implementations and optimizations
Proven experience leading technical teams and driving multi-year roadmaps
Track record of building cross-functional partnerships, working across functions to drive solutions
Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights
Nice to have:
Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Demonstrate specialized experience in two or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, Operating Systems, CPU/GPU/accelerators, CoreOS, Kernel, Android Kernel, Android Boot, Power Management, RTOS, Linux, Microcontroller Unit (MCU)
Understanding of memory management and mass storage subsystems and their impacts on overall system performance
Experience with leading large-scale and cross-functional engineering efforts
Experience in mentoring/influencing engineers across organizations
