Within Azure Data, the big data analytics team provides a range of products that enable data engineers and data scientists to extract intelligence from all data – structured, semi-structured, and unstructured. We build the Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Warehouse pillars of Microsoft Fabric. Within Azure Data, the Big Data Analytics team builds the Data Engineering capabilities of Microsoft Fabric. The Fabric Data Engineering team is hiring a Software Engineer II to build capabilities that help customers succeed on Fabric. You will work on Materialized lake views and contribute to enterprise-grade experiences built on open-source components such as Apache Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop—enabling developers to build, manage, and operate scalable data applications with Fabric-native capabilities and industry-standard frameworks, with simplicity and SaaS-like efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Design high-performant scalable services for Microsoft Fabric
Work hands-on with Spark and Spark-based extension frameworks
Build and optimize lakehouse infrastructure and data pipelines
Develop cloud-scale SaaS platform features focusing on efficiency, reliability, and security
Participate in the full engineering lifecycle—from requirements to production support
Maintain HDInsight components ensuring stability for production customers
Leverage cutting-edge AI tools for innovative feature development
Debug complex distributed systems and drive automation in deployment
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, with 4 years of relevant experience
Proven experience building and shipping cloud-scale SaaS products
Strong programming skills with exceptional demonstrated expertise in data engineering concepts and big data platforms
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Nice to have:
Experience with Azure-based cloud services and distributed systems
Experience in Big Data systems
Expertise in performance optimization of Spark implementations
