Job Description:

The Azure Digital Operations org is building the next generation edge platform to solve the operational needs of customers in manufacturing and retail sector. We are looking for a Software Engineer to be part of the exciting new journey to redefine and help drive the future of Azure Digital Operations. You will be responsible for building highly available, resilient and efficient messaging services, data processing and AI frameworks, using latest technologies like WebAssembly (Wasm), that run on Kubernetes at the edge. Job Responsibility:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand the product landscape and requirements of features
  • Design and develop scalable, reliable, and secure services optimized for Kubernetes at the edge
  • Write code that is well structured, extensible, and maintainable
  • Implement test automation to ensure robustness of the product
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards are followed, and consider diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability when reviewing code, and understand when code is ready to be shared or delivered
  • Help create a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone can bring their full and authentic self and where we do our best work as a result

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of software development, preferably developing and running distributed system
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Nice to have:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience
  • Experience in shipping high quality microservices based products
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Rust programming language
  • Familiarity with IoT messaging protocols like MQTT
  • Experience with customer support and on-call rotations
