We are building the Future of Work by leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI to create intelligent, connected experiences that drive productivity across Microsoft 365. The Path Team is hiring a Software Engineer II to help us realize this vision. As a Software Engineer II, you will contribute to transforming Microsoft Planner into a high-scale, unified work management platform. This foundational effort will eliminate complexity, streamline user experiences, and enable AI-driven productivity for millions of users worldwide.

Job Responsibility

  • Solve problems in distributed and concurrent computing, including cross-datacenter geo-replication, disaster recovery, work distribution, and large-scale data migration
  • Collaborate in an agile environment, interacting with major Office 365 teams to build cross-service integrations
  • Partner with stakeholders to define user requirements and incorporate feedback from multiple channels into designs and solutions
  • Develop extensible, maintainable, and reliable code, applying diagnosability principles and reusing components where applicable
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), monitoring systems for degradation or downtime and restoring service for simple issues
  • Drive improvements in engineering processes, ensuring quality, managing risks, dependencies, and trade-offs
  • Embody Microsoft’s Culture and Values in all aspects of work

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of full-stack experience developing distributed web service applications with highly concurrent server-side code coding in C#
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Nice to have

  • 2+ years of experience creating, releasing, and evolving large commercial software components or products at scale
  • 1+ year(s) experience with NOSQL databases and high volume / throughput web applications and their design
