Job Description

We are on the journey to transform our digital capabilities, bringing core business processes, people, data & technology together - an enabler for IKEA to become an even better home furnishing retailer in the future. A journey that needs passionate people who embrace change, dare to question and want to make a difference. If that sounds like you, come and join us. Together we can do great things! About the area Inter IKEA Group is organized in three core businesses - Range, Supply and Retail Concept - and five enabling functions. Together we contribute to the success of IKEA and share responsibility for the franchise offer. The enabling functions lead key common activities in networks across Inter IKEA Group, as well as cover specific needs for the core businesses. The five Enabling functions are Operations Management, Business Performance & Support, Communication, Sustainability and People & Culture. Operations Management leads and holds together the development and maintenance of a common foundation for how we work together across the value chain, our operating model. We enable strategic movements towards the IKEA goals through the strategic landscape and work closely with all parts of the value chain to achieve them. It includes teams for business insights, capability and process development, strategy and roadmap, data and product, and technology. Our mission in the Inter IKEA Group is to build a strong data foundation to enable the growth of IKEA. It covers, among other things, sustainability data and material data, transforming it into a trusted and democratic resource. It empowers IKEA co-workers, suppliers, and customers to make sustainable and efficient decisions across the value chain—giving us the means to understand our past, make informed decisions in the present, and simulate the future impact of different choices. We have chosen to organize our work in a data and product paradigm where we are building empowered teams that have the privilege to take responsibility while being supported by servant leaders. About the job Join us in shaping the future of data! We are looking for two Software Engineers to join our Data & Engineering platform team and help build a modern data foundation that enables true self-serve analytics on scale. You’ll work at the intersection of software, data and platform engineering, and developer experience, enabling teams across the organization to easily discover, access, and use data. What you’ll do As a Software Engineer in our Data Foundation team, you will: Build and evolve our data platform capabilities to support self-service analytics and data product thinking; Design and develop platform services, tooling, and frameworks that enable data producers and consumers; Work with Databricks as a core component of our modern data platform; Contribute to our knowledge graph / metadata layer, improving discoverability, lineage, and data understanding; Implement and promote DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation, testing, IaC) for data and platform engineering; Develop solutions across multi-cloud environments (Azure & AWS); Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and domain teams to remove friction and improve developer experience; Drive standardization, scalability, and best practices across the platform. What we’re looking for We believe you are a curious and pragmatic engineer who enjoys building platforms that others rely on. Required experience: Strong experience in software engineering (Python, JS/TS, Go, or similar); Experience working with data platforms or data-intensive systems; Hands-on experience with Databricks or similar distributed data frameworks (e.g., Spark); Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS); Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automation; Experience designing APIs, services, or reusable platform components. Bonus (nice to have): Experience working with knowledge graphs, metadata platforms, or data catalogs; Exposure to Data Mesh or data product thinking; Experience with self-service data platforms or developer platforms; Knowledge of governance, lineage, and data discoverability solutions. How you’ll work You’ll be part of a platform-oriented team, focused on enabling others; You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Analytics, and Domain teams; You’ll contribute to a culture of data empowerment (not just enablement); You’ll focus on long-term scalability, not just short-term delivery. Why join us? Work on strategic, company-wide capabilities; Help build a modern data platform from a strong cloud-native foundation; Be part of a team shaping how data is used across the organization; Drive real impact by enabling self-serve analytics at scale; Opportunity to work across Databricks, knowledge graph technologies, and multi-cloud environments. Additional information We look forward to receiving your application. Please apply by submitting your CV. Internal candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Please note that we are interviewing continuously so we might start interviewing early for certain roles. Please also note that we only handle applications in English and do not accept applications coming in by email. If you have any questions about the role or the recruitment process, feel free to connect with the Jordi Menick (jordi.menick@inter.ikea.com). We always recruit based on values, competence, potential and diversity. We will first consider co-workers employed at Inter IKEA Group impacted by organizational changes. For this specific recruitment priority will be given to impacted co-workers in Inter IKEA Systems Service AB, Inter IKEA Technology Services AB and Inter IKEA Systems BV provided competence requirements are met for the role. This role is published as part of an internal recruitment process connected to our organisational changes. It offers an opportunity for co-workers whose experience and competence may be relevant.
