Job Description

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and maintain applications using Python
  • Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications with Docker
  • Design and optimize database solutions with MongoDB
  • Collaborate with team members using Git for version control and code reviews
  • Ensure smooth CI/CD processes and participate in the full software development lifecycle
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback
  • Provide on-site technical support, including diagnosing and resolving issues with hardware, applications, and user environments
  • Perform system administration tasks as needed to maintain operational stability across multiple locations
  • Manage and execute deployments to all production sites, including pushing new software versions, validating successful rollouts, and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to troubleshoot complex issues and maintain high system availability

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Proficiency in Python, Docker, and MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of Git and collaborative workflows
  • Experience with JavaScript (Angular2 and/or React) for UI development
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Agile methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Position requires active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph

Nice to have

  • Exposure to tools such as Ansible, JIRA, Bitbucket, and Terraform is a plus
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes is desired
