Need to work in Noon shift with overlap of 5 Hrs. with Onsite EST Hours. We are seeking a hands-on IBM i Platform Integration Engineer to support and stabilize our IBM i (AS400) environment during and after our migration from on-prem to IBM Cloud. This role fills the operational and technical gaps between development, infrastructure, vendors, and platform operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly on the IBM i platform, installing and supporting applications, troubleshooting connectivity and integration issues, and acting as a technical liaison across teams. This role reports to the Technology Operations Supervisor and plays a critical role in reducing operational friction and ensuring platform reliability.
Job Responsibility:
Install, configure, and support third-party and internally developed applications on IBM i
Perform system-level tasks including IPL coordination, PTF application, and environment validation
Support application deployments and upgrades in coordination with development teams
Monitor system health, job activity, subsystems, and resource utilization
Diagnose and resolve application, job, and batch processing issues across environments
Troubleshoot network connectivity issues in partnership with network and infrastructure teams
Analyze logs, job outputs, and system messages to identify root causes
Act as the first point of escalation before engaging vendors or developers
Serve as a technical bridge between WINS developers, infrastructure teams, and external consultants
Communicate effectively with developers who prefer minimal context switching, translating issues into actionable technical terms
Work directly with vendor support teams and consultants, speaking the same operational language
Ensure issues are clearly documented, tracked, and escalated appropriately
Provide clear, concise status updates and issue reporting to management
Document operational procedures, installation steps, and troubleshooting playbooks
Identify recurring issues and recommend process or tooling improvements
Support audit, compliance, and change management activities related to the IBM i platform
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience with IBM i (AS400) system administration
Experience installing and supporting applications on IBM i
Solid understanding of IBM i concepts such as libraries, subsystems, jobs, and authorities
Familiarity with PTFs, IPLs, and system maintenance activities
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals as they relate to IBM i connectivity
Ability to read logs, analyze failures, and troubleshoot complex platform issues
Proven ability to work with strong-willed or highly specialized technical teams
Comfortable acting as a translator between developers, infrastructure, and vendors
Able to escalate issues clearly and without drama
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience supporting IBM i in a cloud or hosted environment
Prior involvement in platform migrations or major infrastructure transitions
Experience working with managed service providers or consulting partners
Background in enterprise production support or regulated environments
