The Core AI organization builds Microsoft's end-to-end Azure AI platform as a service (PaaS). Our work sits at the foundation of Azure's differentiation and powers Microsoft's flagship products, from Office and Teams to Xbox. Core AI is responsible for services such as Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, and the global Azure AI infrastructure that runs some of the largest AI workloads on the planet. The rapid evolution of Generative AI has transformed how applications retrieve, reason over, and interact with data. Advanced retrieval systems now form the backbone of Copilot-style experiences, seamlessly combining large language models with enterprise data to deliver rich, grounded user experiences. Within Core AI, the Azure AI Search team delivers high-scale, enterprise-grade search and retrieval capabilities used by applications across industries. We integrate Microsoft AI for content understanding, relevance, and performance, enabling everything from traditional search to state-of-the-art retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Our team is at the forefront of this transformation, building the next generation of retrieval systems that sit at the center of Microsoft's AI platform strategy. The Role We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team at a pivotal moment. This role offers a unique opportunity to own and shape critical features of a globally distributed Azure service that is central to the AI innovation wave. You will work on core service infrastructure that directly impacts developers and customers building AI-powered applications at scale.
