Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for Experienced or Lead Software Design and Analysis Engineers (Level 3 or 4) to support the software development of electro-optical systems at the Starfire Optical Range on Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This position supports the Research and Development (R&D) mission of the Air Force Research Laboratory Optics Division in their advancement of Space Domain Awareness capabilities. The site houses telescope research facilities ranging in size from 0.5m up to 3.5m with advanced optical systems. Starfire Optical Range is a world class research facility with recognized achievements, enabled by the quality, enthusiasm, and dedication of our entire team. Our team consists of engineers and technicians in all disciplines required to plan, design, integrate, and test complex optical, electronic, quantum systems to achieve research objectives. This engineer would work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the development of electro-mechanical pointing and tracking control systems. The ideal candidate would assist with the documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain code with integration of software components into a fully functional system
Assist with test procedures and documentation of test results to ensure software system requirements are met
Gather information to support software project management
Document deployed processes and tools and collect metrics
Support software research and development projects
Troubleshoots basic software issues
Develop architectures to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platforms
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
3+ years of experience with procedural or object oriented software development (C, C++, Python, or Java)
3+ years of experience with writing software for low level device interface control as well as graphical user interface applications
3+ years of experience with developing software for Windows and Linux
Must be willing to work variable shifts
including day, evening, night and weekends
Active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance (Preferred)
1+ years of coursework and/or experience in programming with LabVIEW software (Preferred)
Experience developing network communication applications (Preferred)
Experience with the development, test and evaluation of hardware and software required for electro-mechanical/optical control system implementation (Preferred)
Experience with Telescopes and Adaptive Optics (Preferred)
Nice to have:
6+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance
1+ years of coursework and/or experience in programming with LabVIEW software
Experience developing network communication applications
Experience developing imaging sensor applications
Experience with the development, test and evaluation of hardware and software required for electro-mechanical/optical control system implementation
