The Technology Domain Leader – Software Asset Management (SAM) is responsible for defining and executing the enterprise-wide strategy for software asset management, licensing compliance, and optimization across multiple technology domains. This role ensures the organisation maximizes the value of its software investments, minimizes compliance risks, and embeds SAM practices into core business and technology operations.
Job Responsibility:
Define and implement the enterprise Software Asset Management strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, technology governance
Lead software asset audits, license reconciliations, and compliance assessments across key software vendors
Analyse vendor agreements and entitlements to interpret terms, obligations, usage metrics, and compliance requirements
Partner with procurement, IT, and finance teams to integrate SAM processes into sourcing, budgeting, and operational practices
Develop and maintain SAM frameworks, policies, and controls that ensure accurate software asset data
Manage vendor relationships and license negotiations
Support audit preparation and defence
Conduct SAM maturity assessments
Coordinate project activities, milestones, and reporting across multiple concurrent SAM initiatives
Prepare executive-level reports and recommendations
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or related enterprise governance disciplines
Strong knowledge of software licensing models, compliance frameworks, and audit methodologies across major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, SAP)
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing SAM processes and governance frameworks within large or complex organizations
Experience conducting or overseeing software license audits and reconciliations, including audit preparation and defence
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with proven ability to engage and influence senior (Director/C-level) stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting complex licensing data, contracts, and entitlements
Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing priorities and ensuring consistent delivery
Proficiency with SAM tools and platforms such as Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, or equivalent
Experience collaborating with finance, procurement, and IT operations to embed SAM practices and drive cost optimization
Nice to have:
Familiarity with cloud and hybrid licensing models, including SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS environments
Knowledge of data governance principles and their application within IT asset and configuration management systems
Experience in AI-driven analytics or automation to enhance asset tracking and compliance reporting
