Lead the design, development, and evolution of complex software systems for critical defence and space applications. This role is pivotal in shaping the technical direction, ensuring architectural integrity, and driving the successful delivery of cutting-edge software solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the architectural design, definition, and documentation of software systems
develop and maintain technical roadmaps for software products and platforms
research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools
define and oversee integration strategies for various software components, subsystems, and external systems
design and implement robust security architectures and ensure compliance
architect solutions that meet stringent performance, reliability, and scalability requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
8-10 years of progressive experience in software development
at least 3-5 years in a dedicated Software Architect role
proven experience in designing and delivering complex, large-scale software systems, preferably within defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries
demonstrable experience with various architectural patterns (e.g., microservices, event-driven, monolithic decomposition)
strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Python, Ada) relevant to embedded or real-time systems
extensive knowledge of software design principles, object-oriented design, and design patterns
experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development is highly desirable
familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) where applicable
understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices
experience with model-driven architecture (MDA) tools and techniques is a plus
eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance
