We are looking for a Soft Services Operative to join the Facilities team at TKMS ATLAS UK, based at Winfrith, Dorset. This role has been created to support day-to-day site operations through effective material handling, facilities support, and operational housekeeping across the Dorset Innovation Park site. As a Soft Services Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of facilities operations by safely handling, moving, and managing site material streams. You will contribute to maintaining compliant storage areas, supporting logistics activities, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and safety are upheld across the site. This is a varied, hands-on role working closely with the Soft Services Manager and wider facilities team within a dynamic defence engineering environment.
Job Responsibility
Supporting day-to-day facilities and site operations across the Dorset Innovation Park site
Sorting, segregating, and transferring materials in line with operational procedures and site requirements
Operating forklifts and mechanical handling equipment safely and efficiently (subject to training and licence)
Loading, unloading, and transporting materials between designated storage locations
Maintaining organised, compliant, and tidy storage and external yard areas
Supporting scheduled collections, site logistics activities, and office moves
Carrying out pre-use checks on forklifts and equipment and reporting defects promptly
Ensuring work areas remain clean, safe, and free from obstructions
Maintaining operational records, logs, and checklists as required
Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses, and equipment faults
Supporting audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external service providers
Requirements
Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to work
Good attention to detail, particularly when completing documentation and records
The ability to prioritise tasks and manage a varied workload
A proactive attitude and willingness to support wider team activities
Awareness of health and safety practices and safe manual handling principles
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Nice to have
Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence or willingness to obtain one
Knowledge of waste streams and materials handling
Awareness of COSHH regulations
Experience within facilities, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments
