Our team develops the critical soft goods systems that connect cutting-edge hardware to the human body—solving the complex biomechanical, thermal, and ergonomic challenges that determine whether a device gets worn for minutes or hours. As a Soft Goods Product Design Engineer, you'll own the end-to-end development of parts and assemblies that integrate high-performance textiles with hardware assemblies for Meta's next-generation consumer electronics: Facial interfaces - precision-engineered foam and fabric systems balancing pressure distribution, thermal management, and optical sealing; Strap architectures - load-bearing systems with integrated cable routing, adjustment mechanisms, and counterbalance dynamics; Wrist-worn wearables - skin-contact assemblies with embedded electronics, flex circuits, and biometric sensor integration; Protective accessories - engineered carry cases with integrated protection, plus modular accessories that unlock new functionality for our flagship products
Job Responsibility:
Design and develop new soft goods parts and assemblies for high-volume consumer electronic devices
Own soft goods engineering activities throughout the product life cycle, from definition and creation, through design, production, and next-gen improvements
Collaborate closely with Industrial Designers and other cross-functional engineering disciplines to identify challenges and offer creative solutions
Collaborate with small teams of engineers and vendors to drive down selections of options and deliver products within tight time and cost constraints
Implement sound engineering processes and systematic approaches, while solving varied design and manufacturing challenges
Contribute to the creation of technical specifications and product definition
Test and evaluate soft goods design components for manufacturability and performance
Coordinate with soft goods manufacturing experts to optimize part design and production processes, run DOEs and ensure we meet process capability targets
Travel to visit overseas Vendors periodically is expected
