Job Description:

Are you a perceptive social scientist capable of challenging students to deconstruct the hidden structures of power, identity, and inequality? Do you possess the pedagogical sophistication to lead rigorous debates on complex societal issues while maintaining an objective, evidence-based academic environment? We are seeking a high-caliber Qualified Sociology Teacher (QTS) for a permanent position at our partner Secondary School in Huntingdon, commencing this September. This school is committed to fostering socially conscious, critical thinkers and is looking for a specialist who can inspire students to look beyond the surface of everyday life to understand the forces that shape human behavior.

Job Responsibility:

  • Academic Excellence: Plan and deliver high-impact Sociology lessons across KS4 and KS5, leading students through the complexities of families, education, crime and deviance, and social stratification.
  • Theoretical Mastery: Guide students through the foundational perspectives of Functionalism, Marxism, and Feminism, ensuring they can apply these 'lenses' to contemporary social phenomena.
  • A-Level Specialism: Lead Year 12 and 13 cohorts through rigorous exam specifications (AQA/OCR), focusing on high-level essay writing, research methods, and the evaluation of sociological theory.
  • Critical Inquiry: Cultivate a classroom culture of respectful debate, where students feel empowered to analyze sensitive topics such as class, gender, ethnicity, and globalisation with academic rigor.
  • Research Leadership: Teach students how to evaluate the validity and reliability of various research methods, from quantitative surveys to qualitative participant observation.
  • Pastoral Stewardship: Act as a Form Tutor, providing consistent academic and emotional support to a dedicated group of learners within the school's supportive framework.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Sociology, Criminology, or a related Social Science discipline.
  • Analytical Precision: The ability to teach students how to structure complex arguments and use sociological evidence to support or challenge diverse viewpoints.
  • Subject Passion: A genuine interest in current affairs and the ability to link classroom theory to real-world social change and policy.
  • Classroom Authority: Exceptional management skills that ensure a safe, inclusive, and highly focused environment for every student.
  • Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
What we offer:
  • Permanent Security: This is a direct-hire permanent contract starting in September, offering full integration into the school's staff body and long-term career stability.
  • Competitive Remuneration: Payment on the full MPS/UPS scale, commensurate with your professional experience and subject expertise.
  • Huntingdon Location: Work in a historic market town with a strong community feel and excellent transport links to Cambridge, Peterborough, and London.
  • Expert Advocacy: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant, who will navigate the interview and negotiation process on your behalf.
  • Referral Rewards: Earn a £300 voucher for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to our team!
