Requirements

BS in Medical Technology or BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology with certification by the registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, or other nationally recognized professional certifying body, or a 4-year college education in an appropriate science and 6 years of closely related clinical laboratory experience
Six (6) years prior experience as a Licensed Medical Technologist is required
Experience with phlebotomy and patient interaction is a plus
Must have a current NYS License
MT(ASCP) certification desired

Job Responsibility

Analyze patient blood samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods and instrumentation
Adhere to established laboratory protocols and follows all safety rules and regulations
Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols
Report results of patient sample analysis
Professional discretion and confidentiality are required
Blood Collection (draws) and patient blood processing and urine sample
Assist with bone marrow procedures
Perform and document instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
Maintain a clean, safety-oriented laboratory environment

Serve as a subject matter expert for one type of equipment and oversee everyday tasks and troubleshooting within their area of expertise. Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works within disciplines they have been trained and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline(s).
