Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Midlothian Council's Children's and Families 0-26 team. This is a full time role offering a fantastic competitive pay rate.
Job Responsibility:
Investigating referrals from schools, police, or health professionals to determine if a child is at risk
Managing the Child Protection Register and conducting investigations where there are concerns of abuse or neglect
Providing immediate, brief support to stabilise a family crisis
Assessing children with disabilities and coordinating Self-Directed Support (SDS) to give families more control over their care
Providing "edge of care" support to help children remain safely at home with their birth parents
Managing the care plans for children in foster care, residential care, or kinship care
Preparing detailed evidence for Children's Hearings, permanence panels, and courts
Facilitating meetings where extended family members help create a safety plan for the child, prioritising kinship care over local authority care
Under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, the team has a duty to support eligible young people in their care placements until age 21
Providing financial, emotional, and housing advice to care leavers up to age 26
A specific initiative that helps care leavers move into their own tenancies while providing a community of support to prevent homelessness
Managing cases for 16-18 year olds who have entered the justice system, focusing on diversion from prosecution and restorative justice
Dedicated workers provide specialised support for young people arriving in Midlothian without family
Identifying and supporting children who provide care for a parent or sibling through Young Carer Statements
Requirements:
Social Work Degree
SSSC registration
PVG
Experience in Children services
