Job Responsibility:
Undertaking complex and detailed viability assessments and full Regulation 24 (Temporary Approval) assessments of prospective Special Guardians
Preparing comprehensive and high-quality Special Guardianship Reports for the Family Court
Assessing the long-term support needs of approved Special Guardians, including financial, therapeutic, and contact support, and coordinating packages to ensure placement stability
Working closely with the Fostering Team to manage the transition where connected carers are approved as Family and Friends Foster Carers
Ensuring all work is compliant with the Children Act 1989, SGO Regulations, and relevant Fostering regulations
Requirements:
A recognized professional qualification in Social Work
Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)
A minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience, ideally within Fostering, Permanence, or a specialist Kinship/Connected Carers Team
Proven experience in writing and presenting analytical, court-ready reports (e.g., SGO Reports, Form C)
Strong commitment to achieving permanence for children and excellent direct work skills with both children and adult family members
