Join the Gateshead Front Door Team to provide the first critical response to safeguarding concerns for children in the borough. The Opportunity: Locum Contract. This is a Full-Time, Ongoing Locum Contract working 37 hours per week in Gateshead, offering a competitive pay rate of £27.56 per hour.
Job Responsibility:
Referral Screening: Managing high volumes of incoming referrals and contacts from professionals (Police, Health, Education) and members of the public regarding potential harm to children
Risk Analysis: Conducting thorough viability assessments and initial screening to identify immediate risks and escalating concerns to the appropriate statutory service (e.g., Child Protection/S47) within mandated timescales
Multi-Agency Liaison: Working closely within the MASH model to liaise with co-located partners, gathering essential historical and current information to inform triage decisions
Decision Making: Making clear, timely, and analytical decisions on the appropriate route for the family: either directing to Early Help, escalating for a full statutory assessment, or closing the case where thresholds are not met
Information Quality: Ensuring all contacts, information gathering, and decisions are accurately recorded on the electronic case management system
Requirements:
Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
Proven experience (2+ years) in a MASH, Front Door, or Referral & Assessment team
Exceptional analytical skills
Strong knowledge of thresholds for statutory intervention (Children Act 1989) and local safeguarding procedures
