The Extensive Needs Integrated Pathway (“Extensive Needs Service”, “ENS”) proof of concept program is a specialized support program to provide clinical services to children with extensive needs (multiple and/or complex special needs) and their families. The program provides multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary services that can include adjusting medications, personalized behaviour support plans, mental health assessments and treatment, supports for families (e.g. coordinated service planning and social work), and specialized interventions to support children and youth to build skills such as communication and self-regulation. A multidisciplinary/ interdisciplinary team provides individualized treatments and supports that focus on effectively working together with families and current care teams to enhance capacity, reduce challenging/interfering behaviours, and treat underlying health concerns. Services support the child/youth to build skills (e.g., communication, self-regulation, etc.), as well as support the family, local service providers, and educators to learn skills and strategies to support the child in their home, school, and community. Additionally, the service will support the family as a whole, including siblings as needed.
