Job Description:

Locum Duty & Assessment Social Worker role within the Duty and Assessment Team at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, responsible for the initial phase of Children's Social Care involvement, undertaking critical, timely assessments to determine risk and need.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responding to new referrals and conducting timely Initial Assessments and Section 47 Enquiries
  • Working collaboratively with multi-agency partners (MASH, Police, Health) to gather information and inform professional judgements
  • Presenting findings clearly and concisely to inform the next steps, whether that is progression to Child Protection, Child in Need, or case closure
  • Maintaining accurate and high-quality records on electronic case management systems

Requirements:

  • Must be a Qualified Social Worker (QSW) registered with Social Work England
  • Proven, recent experience working within a statutory Duty & Assessment or Front Door service
  • Excellent understanding of the Children Act 1989 and relevant child protection legislation
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, complex caseload and work effectively under pressure
