Job Responsibility

  • Conducting statutory assessments (e.g., Section 17, Carers Assessments) to determine eligibility for services
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive, personalised care packages, including short breaks, direct payments, and resource allocation
  • Leading transition planning for young people moving from children's to adult services
  • Working closely with the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) framework and EHC (Education, Health and Care) Plans
  • Managing complex safeguarding concerns, including Deprivation of Liberty (DoLs) matters for 16/17-year-olds
  • Handling Child Protection (CP) and Child in Need (CIN) cases within the CiWD cohort
  • Liaising effectively with Health, Education, and specialist voluntary sector partners

Requirements

  • A recognized professional qualification in Social Work
  • Current registration with Social Work England (SWE)
  • A minimum of 2 years post-qualified experience, ideally within a CiWD or specialist disability team
  • Expert knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and relevant parts of the Care Act 2014 (transitions)
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload autonomously
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle are essential for traveling across the Carlisle locality
