Job Description

Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join Sunderland Together for Children within their Children's Social Care service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the implementation of the Regional Pathfinder Hub, supporting prospective foster carers through the assessment and guidance process while helping to secure the best outcomes for children and young people.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the implementation and development of the Regional Pathfinder Hub
  • Provide professional advice, guidance and support to prospective foster carers
  • Work collaboratively with children, foster carers, parents and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
  • Undertake assessments and contribute to effective planning for children requiring foster placements
  • Apply sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, within day-to-day practice
  • Contribute to family finding and matching children with suitable foster carers where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate case records and prepare high-quality reports
  • Build positive relationships with families, carers and multi-agency professionals through effective communication and negotiation

Requirements

  • A recognised Social Work qualification
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Experience working within Children's Social Care
  • Excellent knowledge of the Children Act 1989
  • Strong communication, assessment and negotiation skills
  • Experience working effectively with children, families, carers and partner agencies

Nice to have

  • Previous experience within Fostering is highly desirable
  • Alternatively, strong experience within Kinship or Adoption services will also be considered
  • Experience of family finding and matching children with foster carers
  • Previous involvement in fostering recruitment, assessment or support
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a multi-disciplinary team
