You will be at the forefront of safeguarding, ensuring that children in the Midlothian area receive the support and protection they need to thrive.
Job Responsibility:
Initial Assessments: Responding to new referrals and conducting robust holistic assessments
Caseload Management: Managing a varied caseload involving Child Protection, Children in Need, and Looked After Children
Intervention: Developing and implementing effective care plans to support family preservation or alternative permanence
Collaboration: Working closely with schools, health professionals, and the police to provide a multi-agency approach to safety
Court Work: Preparing reports and attending Children's Hearings or Court proceedings where necessary
Requirements:
A degree in Social Work or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
Current SSSC registration as a social worker
Significant post-qualification experience in a statutory Children and Families setting, with a proven track record of managing complex child protection caseloads
Expert-level knowledge of relevant Scottish legislation, including the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 and the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968
Exceptional ability to gather, analyse, and synthesise complex information under pressure to inform professional judgments
Demonstrated emotional resilience and ability to maintain professional effectiveness when dealing with highly distressing and challenging situations
