Job Description:

Social Worker role in Child Protection, completing statutory duties, co-producing assessments and plans, managing caseloads, and working within legal and policy frameworks to safeguard children.

Job Responsibility:

  • Complete child protection and safeguarding functions and statutory duties in line with the Children Act (1989) and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) 2014 Act
  • Co-produce proportionate assessments and Care and Support Plans with families and partner agencies
  • Produce court reports and undertake placement of children for Adoption
  • Hold a case load supporting children in need of Care and Support, children on the Child Protection register and Children Looked after
  • Manage Part 4 Care and support plans for children on the child protection registers and for children considered at an initial child protection conference
  • Prepare social work report for conference, coordinate and chair core groups, undertake statutory visits and escalate concerns
  • Undertake “duty” responsibilities on a rota basis for two days a month
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day organisation of personal case load in accordance with Departmental and Cwm Taf Safeguarding Children policies
  • Participate and prepare for individual planned supervision and staff appraisal sessions
  • Engage proactively with team meetings, staff briefings and contribute to service development
  • Work within the framework of all departmental and Cwm Taf Safeguarding Children Board policies, procedures and practices
  • Be involved in the initiation and ongoing management of legal proceedings to safeguard and promote a child’s welfare
  • Complete adoption paperwork and prepare information to present to the Agency decision making
  • Work in collaboration with Vales, Valleys and Cardiff Adoption Service to ensure timely placement and adoption orders

  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent
  • Registered with Social Care Wales
  • Completed relevant post-qualifying training
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • Excellent communication and written skills
