An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Health & Disability Team (CHAD) at Cardiff Council. This is a rewarding role within a supportive and dynamic multi-agency environment, working with children with additional needs and their families. The team operates a hybrid model, combining home working, agile community-based practice, and office-based working at County Hall.
Job Responsibility:
Work alongside a multi-agency team of professionals in partnership with families
Use the Signs of Safety approach to underpin social work practice
Complete Wellbeing Assessments, child protection enquiries, and develop and review care and support plans
Work in a multi-agency capacity to provide coordinated support to families
Attend Child Protection Conferences, Children Looked After Reviews, and Court hearings as required
Provide specialist advice and support across the wider Children’s Services team regarding children with additional needs
Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective systems to ensure quality services
Participate in the team duty rota and regular team meetings
Demonstrate high-quality written and verbal practice
Provide peer support and guidance to Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs)
Requirements:
A Degree or Master’s in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or equivalent qualification
Experience working within a Child Health & Disability Team
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team around children
Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
A commitment to collaborative, strengths-based practice
