Job Description:

Durham County Council's Families First Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Work Consultant to join our team in Easington. We are committed to providing high-quality, early intervention support to families, helping them build resilience and achieve positive outcomes for their children.

Job Responsibility:

  • Early Intervention and Support: Provide direct support and interventions to families, building positive relationships and ensuring they receive the resources and guidance they need to overcome challenges
  • Developing and Implementing Care Plans: Collaborate with families, children, and other professionals to develop individualised care plans, tailoring support to meet individual needs and circumstances
  • Working with Different Agencies: Work closely with other agencies, such as schools, health services, and the police, to deliver effective and timely interventions
  • Engaging with Families: Build trust and rapport with families to promote positive change and support their progress
  • Providing Expertise and Guidance: Offer information, advice, and support to families and other professionals on a range of topics related to child development, parenting, and accessing resources
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines
  • Contributing to Team Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's service delivery
  • Advocating for Children: Represent the needs of children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent)
  • Social Care England registration
  • Updated DBS check
  • Experience working within a Children's Social Care service, ideally within a family support or early intervention setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands
  • Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of children and families
