Job Description:

Due to the increased demands across Children & Family Services Randstad are keen to recruit experienced Social Work Assistants who will become an integral part of an experienced Social Care team providing invaluable support to senior Social Workers and management teams in the delivery & provision of efficient and effective services to children & families across Northern Ireland.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting social work managers in the provision of quality social work services to children, young people and families
  • Undertake work with children and/or parents/carers as directed by the Social Work Manager, Senior Social Work Practitioner or Social Worker
  • Complete tasks such as coordinating family support, diversionary and respite services, sourcing appropriate family support services and other resources
  • Collate essential information about children and families and report this back to the Social Worker/Team Manager
  • Assist children and/or parents/carers with practical tasks including transport
  • Assist in delivery of contact services including the supervision of contact arrangements
  • Report to Team Manager and/or Social Worker immediately all identified child protection concerns or other areas of concern or risk identified
  • Support social work staff as requested with administrative tasks

Requirements:

  • NISCC Registration Essential
  • 6-12 months previous Social Care experience essential & UK Drivers Licence
  • Social Work Degree, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in a Health & Social Care discipline essential
  • Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting including an enhanced Access NI check and compliance due to the nature of this work
  • Effective communicator
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a varied caseload
  • Ability to build rapport with parents, young people & social care professionals

  • Reviews and evaluates intakes by case review, case conferences, and individual conferences to ensure that intake workers accurately identify the client's needs
  • Advises staff, in emergency situations, of appropriate case action, casework methods for handling difficult cases, and suggesting methods and strategies to resolve problems
