The Social Media & Community Lead is responsible for running, scaling, and continuously improving Koala’s local social and community in the Australian market. You own day-to-day execution, community management, creator output, and platform performance, while developing a strong local-market social plan aligned to Koala’s global social strategy.
Job Responsibility:
Own the Australian execution of our Global organic strategy
Execute social-first thinking and tactics
Own and oversee the social media budget
Own the social content roadmap and planning frameworks for Australia
Set the standards for community moderation and creator engagement
Own and oversee the local market influencer and partnership ecosystem
Guide the team on who we work with and how we brief
Oversee influencer and UGC output before it goes live
Shape and lead Koala’s community approach
Guide the management of online community spaces
Lead social-first and community-led activations
Oversee the creation and curation of compelling content
Collaborate with the Creative Team
Ensure clear systems for organising assets
Own social performance reporting and insight generation
Partner closely with the Growth team
Requirements:
Senior social leader with experience at scale (hundreds of thousands to millions of followers)
Deep understanding of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube
Experience leading influencer and partnerships strategies
Strong creative instincts and credibility
Insight-led and audience-obsessed
Experience leading or growing social creative teams
Commercially minded
Comfortable with ambiguity in fast-moving environments
