Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Social Emotional Support Worker to join our team in Worthing. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may experience social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, helping them to build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships. Working closely with education professionals, families, and external agencies, you will provide tailored support that enables individuals to overcome barriers to learning and personal development.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide one-to-one and small group social and emotional support
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Support the development of emotional regulation, social skills, and self-esteem
  • Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers, and external professionals
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Encourage independence, wellbeing, and positive engagement in learning and daily activities

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable individuals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Relevant qualifications in education, health and social care, psychology, counselling, or a related field (desirable but not essential)
  • Eligible to work in the UK or hold a relevant work visa
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
