Koala is on a mission to be the most loved DTC brand in Japan, and our next big leap is to become the #1 consumer brand in Japan for social media. To do that, we’re hiring a dedicated Social Creative Lead to own and scale this critical function. This is a senior, hands-on role. You are as comfortable generating ideas and building concepts as you are overseeing production and shipping high volumes of creative. You work with internal members & external freelancers to deliver work that is fast, distinctive, and designed to perform at scale across social platforms.
Job Responsibility:
Build a creator-led organic engine in Japan: Create a repeatable system to ship high volumes of native content weekly, driven by creators and Koala’s internal team
Grow 'Qualified Reach' and cultural relevance: Increase meaningful reach among people in the life moments and home contexts Koala is built for, through consistent, culturally relevant creative for Japan
Feed the organic-to-paid flywheel: Systematically surface organic winners and graduate them into paid social, with clear handoffs and learnings
Own creative strategy and execution for Koala Japan’s organic social (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts)
Build repeatable formats that earn attention and fit Koala’s brand voice and cultural context in Japan
Be the 'ideas person' for social: generating new ideas for content on a daily/weekly/monthly basis
Recruit and manage a roster of creators (no follower minimum), write briefs, and drive fast iteration
Oversee production and editing to ship high-volume content weekly
Be a hands on creator: utilizing skills for editing & content creation
Identify organic winners weekly and graduate them into paid with the paid/performance creative team
Share learnings, build internal social capability, and manage external partners and budget
Requirements:
Deep understanding of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging social formats
Ability to structure, pace, and produce creative to earn attention in-feed
Comfortable operating at the edge of what’s new and experimenting with emerging platforms, formats, and tools including AI and new production workflows
Entrepreneurial mindset willing to get hands dirty to start something 'from scratch'
Tuned into culture, behaviour, and platform trends with ability to turn insight into social ideas
Experience leading or growing social creative teams
Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-moving environments
Hands-on social video editing experience on software such as CapCut and/or iMovie
