A content writer at Signal Theory is, above all else, responsible for consistently bringing smart, original and breakthrough thinking to any project — paired with a deep understanding of what makes creative work great. We're seeking someone with excellent conceptual and copywriting skills who doesn't just love the content space — they live in it. A content writer at Signal Theory needs to process information and feedback from clients and colleagues effectively, and articulate ideas, creative choices and strategic direction with clarity and conviction. At Signal Theory, a content writer reports to a Group Creative Director. Every day, you'll work with an integrated team of strategists, art directors, copywriters, content producers, account leaders, analysts and developers to shape the bigger brand picture for the clients you work with. A content writer should be accomplished in collaboration, communication, platform fluency, and — most importantly — creative thinking and word-slinging. Above all, a content writer must live, breathe and love the social space.
Job Responsibility
Actively participate in group discussions and creative meetings
Write platform-native content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, Threads and emerging channels — understanding the distinct voice, format and constraints of each
Concept and write across formats: captions, short-form video scripts, reels, carousels, stories, ad copy and campaign-level social activations
Collaborate with art directors, designers and content producers to bring ideas to life across visual and written formats
Use performance data and engagement insights to inform and iterate on copy strategies
Stay current on platform algorithm changes, emerging formats and cultural trends — and bring that knowledge to the work
Work with outside resources including production companies, talent and audio production as needed
Help create, organize and present effective creative presentations
Manage time effectively to meet responsibilities and deadlines across multiple accounts
Maintain a solid working relationship with proofreaders and pay close attention to detail
Explore multiple solutions to any given problem and edit your own work with a critical eye
Eagerly volunteer for any targeted need or opportunity
Requirements
A portfolio that demonstrates strong social-first creative thinking — concepts, campaigns and platform-native content that you're genuinely proud of
Deep familiarity with how content performs differently across platforms and why
Experience writing for short-form video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts) and long-form social formats alike
An understanding of brand voice and the ability to shift tone across categories and audiences
Strong instincts around cultural relevance and trend-aware content
The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Nice to have
Mentor and guide associate copywriters when the opportunity arises
Demonstrate fluency with AI tools as part of a modern creative workflow, while keeping the thinking sharp and the voice human
