SOC Debug tools validation Engineer: THE ROLE: The right engineer will drive the success of power IP (Intellectual Property) and features in AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) products through leadership & coordination, resolution of technical dependencies, and achievement of schedule commits. This is a high-visibility and widely multi-functional role, spanning pre-silicon architecture to post-silicon implementation & product delivery. THE PERSON: The person should have hunger for understanding newer technologies and willing to take the untrodden path. The candidate should be able to work independently and also guide the team (as needed). The candidate should be able to communicate (both oral and written) and put across his ideas effectively.

Job Responsibility

  • Own the multi-functional validation of AMD Silicon Debug Tools products
  • Ability to create Test strategy, Test plan and Test execution
  • Work under minimal supervision
  • Lead Quality assurance tasks and enhance product quality
  • Work across engineering teams and subject areas spanning silicon, firmware, hardware, and software
  • Coordinate debug of issues and drive them to closure
  • Pull together meetings, set up clear agendas and follow up on action items
  • Deliver regular progress updates toward program goals
  • Make tough decisions such as priority calls based on partial or incomplete data
  • Proactively drive continuous improvement for Debug Tools and performance activities
  • Must be a self-starter, and able to independently drive tasks to completion
  • Work with the stakeholders to gather and understand the testing requirements, define a test plan/strategy and responsible for the execution of the test plans
  • Domain expert who can develop/use test tools, automation scripts and frameworks for product testing and drive process initiatives, understand customer use case and configurations
  • Be a technical mentor and leader for the team and independently drive tasks to closure by possessing strong debugging & troubleshooting skills
  • Design and Develop test cases for new or existing features in a product, extract test cases from bug reports
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of the test harness/environment on various platforms
  • Analyze and validate tests results- create reports of bug failures, validate bug fixes, follow up with stakeholders to ensure closure of bug reports, participate in debug and triage activities

Requirements

  • MS / M Tech / BE/ in Electronics and Communication/Computer Engineering
  • Should have total relevant work experience of minimum 6+ years
  • Product development/validation or systems engineering background with hardware platforms and their software & firmware ecosystems
  • Familiarity with x86 Debug Tools ,DFT (Design for Testability)
  • Good understanding of DFT /JTAG 1149.x / BMC (Baseboard management controller)
  • Experience in any test automation tools
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux
  • Excellent trouble shooting and debugging techniques with attention to detail
  • Experience with standard automation and scripting (Shell programming/Ruby/Perl/Python)
  • Knowledge on test tools (Coverage tools / Security testing tools / Performance / API testing and stress testing techniques)
  • Experience in maintaining lab infrastructure by Setting up, Configuring and troubleshooting test environment (hardware, software)
  • Sound Knowledge on Computer architecture, micro controller/microprocessor
  • Experienced in configuring virtual machines, assembling systems, creating dual / multi-boot systems etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in functional and regression test automation of web, desktop apps and Service APIs
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, planning, and technical leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and written, presentation skills
