Job Description

The firm’s national non-contentious commercial practice carries out the full range of advice and support on the procurement, award and implementation of commercial contracts to its healthcare, social care, local authority, emergency service and housing clients from across the public and private sectors. The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of high quality and complex procurement and commercial work.

Job Responsibility

  • advising clients, mainly in the public sector on procurement law issues under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, the Procurement Act 2023 and Procurement Regulations 2024 and the Provider Selection Regime
  • drafting and advising on commercial contracts
  • advising on procurement law issues including advising on the application of relevant procurement law
  • advising on project structuring and any procurement issues arising
  • advising on the design of a procurement process
  • drafting procurement documents
  • drafting commercial contracts, including bespoke services and goods contracts, framework agreements and call-off terms, concession contracts, grant agreements, collaboration agreements and contracts based on government standard templates, such as Crown Commercial Services call-off agreements and the NHS standard terms
  • drafting variations and waivers
  • advising on contract interpretation
  • advising on variations to public contracts including whether they are permitted by the relevant procurement legislation and the transparency requirements
  • advising on an end-to-end procurement process from preliminary market engagement through to the award of a public contract and contract management
  • advising on risks and issues that may arise during a procurement process, such as clarifications raised by bidders and the contracting authority, evaluation and moderation, changes to the procurement process, threatened challenges
  • delivering training to clients/potential clients on procurement law and commercial contracts in practice

  • Serve as an operations specialist in one major area of CE operations (e.g., electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and works on advanced tasks independently.
  • Inspect and supervise critical environment-related facility equipment (e.g., controls, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning [HVAC], mechanical systems), building, and grounds regularly for unsafe or abnormal conditions and escalate per applicable policies and standards.
  • Utilize internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track all equipment assets and to complete work order requests for maintenance work.
  • Safely and quickly respond to and lead onsite incident response teams for all abnormal conditions that impact operations, and coordinates with other critical facilities professionals to perform corrective repairs, without supervision.
  • Enhance, develop new or follow preexisting emergency operating procedures (EOPs), methods of procedure (MOPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in relation to CE operations and incidents.
  • Under minimal oversight, perform various types of maintenance (e.g., planned, predictive, corrective) and repairs following methods of procedure (MOPs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for one or more types of equipment (e.g., electrical, mechanical, cooling systems), correct procedures.
  • Have a hands-on understanding of how equipment works and how to troubleshoot equipment, systems, subsystems, and components independently within their trained discipline.
