A pioneering space company is seeking a Snr Communications Engineer to join its Avionics team and support the delivery of ground-breaking in-orbit missions. This is a hands-on, technically senior role with responsibility for the spacecraft communications subsystem — from architecture and link budgets through to testing and in-orbit performance.
Job Responsibility:
Own the design baseline and architecture of the communications subsystem
Develop and manage requirements, VCD, and data/link budgets
Lead antenna selection, GNSS integration, multipath analysis, and ITU licensing support
Manage procurement and suppliers for Tx/Rx units and antennas
Support ground station selection and interface with ground teams
Define and execute unit-level validation and acceptance testing, including testbed development
Work closely with systems, C&DH, procurement, and AIV teams
Mentor junior engineers and manage work packages, schedules, and cost estimates
Requirements:
Degree in Electronics, Communications, or related field
Strong experience designing and managing spacecraft communications subsystems
Proven expertise in satellite link budgets and space-to-ground modelling
Experience with communications verification & validation for satellite missions
Knowledge of ITU frequency licensing processes
Hands-on experience with communications hardware and testing
Eligibility to work in the UK and Europe
Strong Antenna design and propagation knowledge
Deep understanding of link budget analysis and regulatory frameworks
