Job Description

As a Surface Mount Technician (SMT), you will be a key member of the electronics manufacturing team, responsible for operating and maintaining the SMT (Surface Mount Technology) line. You will ensure the precise assembly of PCBs (Printed Circuit Boards) using automated and manual techniques, contributing directly to the delivery of high-performance electronic assemblies used in sectors such as Aerospace, Medical, Defence, and Automotive.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform visual inspections before and after reflow soldering
  • Interpret and follow build documentation, parts lists, and assembly drawings
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and line setup
  • Monitor production output, ensuring components are placed correctly and defects are identified early
  • Keep accurate records of production and quality checks
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area
  • Support new team members and promote best practices in the SMT area

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Previous experience operating machinery or automated systems
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Prior experience with pick & place machines, reflow ovens, or inspection tools
  • Previous use of microscopes, hand tools, or component identification
